Friends of Jubilee Country Park - What we do!
cutting back overgrowing
vegetation, installing signs & gates, pond clearance &
creation, opening up glades & rides, painting picnic tables,
litter-picking, removing graffiti and much more besides!
Monitoring flora and fauna
undertaken during the summer months to monitor butterfly numbers &
species seen. Wildflower surveys are undertaken. Reptiles, amphibians,
small mammals & bats are monitored. The Friends also work in
partnership with Bromley RSPB who record birds seen in the park &
check our bird boxes.
Walks and Talks:
We have a variety of Friends who
lead walks in
the Park throughout the year, in addition to those lead by our
Countryside Officer. Walks in the past have included those on
Butterflies, Birds, Wildflowers, History, Tree Recognition, Lichens,
Fungi and walks looking at changes in the seasons. We also have at
least three talks a year on a wide variety of natural history subjects.
In the past these have included-Birds, Badgers, Foxes, Meerkats,
Hedgehogs and even Orang-utans!
Researching and recording the History of the Park:
considerable amount of work has been undertaken to record as much as
possible about the Park’s
As a result, it has even featured on
a Channel 4 Television Documentary called “The Real Dad’s Army” about
the role the Home Guard played during World War II.
Promoting Jubilee Country Park:
events outside the Park to let people know what we do. These include
